Our staff includes fully credentialed Psychiatrists and Therapists (Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Social Workers)
Psychiatrists (MD) are medical doctors who have gone to medical school and completed residency training and fellowships to specialize in psychiatry. Psychiatrists must pass a state-licensing exam. “Board Certified” psychiatrists have passed the national examination administered by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Psychiatrists can provide evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. Psychiatrists are the only mental health providers who able to prescribe and monitor medication.
Psychologists (PhD, PsyD or EdD) are doctoral level clinicians trained to provide services (psychotherapy), perform diagnostic assessments (including psychological testing), and conduct research. Psychologists must pass a state-licensing exam. As part of their training, psychologists complete two years of pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training.
Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) are mental health specialists trained to provide psychotherapy to adults, children and/or families to address mental, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Licensed Clinical Social Workers have a graduate degree (which includes two years of field placement) followed by an additional two years of advanced clinical training and must pass a state-licensing exam.
